Covering much of Chicago’s Southeast Side and portions of northwest Indiana, the Calumet region was once one of the most biologically diverse wetland areas in North America. Today, The Wetlands Initiative leads part of a collaborative effort to heal these wetlands by restoring hemi-marsh habitat and hydrology, engaging community stakeholders, and monitoring the impacts of our work along the way.

Katie Kucera, Lead Ecologist for the Wetlands Initiative, will discuss restoration efforts and share how secretive marsh birds have responded so far.

Everyone is welcome to attend this program!
