This under birded preserve has a 35-acre lake surrounded by woods with several species of oak trees and a long swath of prairie plants. We'll check the lake for Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and waterfowl, then walk the perimeter to look for sparrows and warblers in the tall grasses & flowers and scour the trees for four woodpecker species and more.
Meet near the far end of the parking lot. There are accessible porta pottys. The walk is on a mowed lawn path.
The bird walk is free and open to everyone. New birders are welcome! No registration required. This nature event is in collaboration with Thornton Public Library.
