Recycling food and garden waste through composting is an easy win-win practice for every household. Experienced gardeners know compost enriches soil and nurtures plants. Home composting reduces garbage in landfills and transport energy use. Additionally, home composting reduces landfill methane, which is a potent contributor to climate change.

Kate Caldwell, an Interpretive Naturalist recently retired from Plum Creek Nature Center in Beecher, will share her expertise on easy, effective, and safe composting. Following a short talk, Kate will demonstrate various composters and encourage audience inspection. Also, to be revealed: the soil critters that are responsible for sustaining the vital resources we consume.

Join us on December 6 for this informative meeting.  You need not be a member.

Note the location: We're holding the meeting at Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve. The Matteson Public Library, where we have been holding meetings, was unavailable for our 12/6 meeting.

> COVID Precautions: We ask that everyone attending in-person meetings be FULLY VACCINATED. Masks are welcome but not required.
