Michael Topp will share highlights, photos, and strategies he used for his 2024 Big Year quest that reeled in 306 Indiana species. He has extensive knowledge pertaining to local bird species and birding locations and enjoys sharing this information.  

Michael has been an avid birder for over 40 years. He has taught ornithology classes for many years including at Gibson Woods (Lake County Parks) and Birding 101 classes at Indiana Dunes State Park. He has also taught classes at Sandridge Audubon, Thorn Creek Audubon, Salamonie Audubon, Indiana Birding Fest and for the Calumet Photo Club. Michael has also done Lakewatches in the spring and fall for Indiana Audubon. He has photographed nearly 370 species of birds in Indiana and has an Indiana State bird list of 383 species.
